Today’s newsletter is intentionally simple.
One professional doing things the right way, and two roles worth following closely.
I also love the LinkedIn search “hack” my folks have been using.
One stand-out professional (yes, they’re a client)
Professional #1 - Product Manager (Finance)
Signature wins
Led the transaction infrastructure workstream for a flagship investment platform, coordinating 50+ stakeholders to migrate a $500B fixed-income book into a unified front-to-back system used globally.
Progressed through every level of a 15-year career at a global financial institution, ultimately owning mission-critical, regulated platforms with firm-wide impact.
The seat they’re targeting
Senior Product / Platform Product leadership roles at fintech or financial-infrastructure companies. Companies where regulated systems, complex workflows, and 0→1 or large-scale modernization are core to the mandate.
Why I’m backing
They aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. I’ve sat in massive ERP implementations, everyone wants to point fingers and this person doesn’t. They’re amazing at cutting through the noise and pulling the right people in. Deep credibility with operations, compliance, and front-office stakeholders at massive financial institutions.
Before I give you two roles that caught my eye this week, please… if you’re in the job search take the role you’re going after and head to the LinkedIn search bar BUT filter for “posts” instead.
You’ll scroll through some junk, but there’s hiring managers and team members talking about the role they’re hiring for. Throw in a comment, reach out to them, and go directly to the source!
Example: [company name/role] AND hiring
Example: robinhood AND hiring
Example: product manager AND hiring AND finance
These are generating conversations + results for my clients.
Ps) filter on “date posted” to get results that are hot.
Two world-class roles I’d follow…
Company: Robinhood
Why world class?
Robinhood is a leader in fin-tech (if you will) right now, cool to see them hiring and posting about it.
Company: SoFi
Role: Senior People Analyst
Why world class?
These people analyst roles sitting in the HRIS group have always had my attention, I love pulling the numbers on where the organization currently sits and helping with workforce transformation. That being said, with this post check out how the author makes a note, “Note: I am not the hiring manager for the role.”
Don’t get discouraged, but gauge your outreach here. SoFi is also on a massive hiring spree. I also noticed that they aren’t messing around with requiring SQL skills for a majority of these postings - could be a good area to invest.
One question to gut check the job search:
Did I move fast enough?
Don’t hold back on the message, applications (if it’s a great fit and just got released), or asking for an introduction. Speed does win in the job search.
Before you leave…
Again, this week we have 6 interviews across 13 folks… not bad but we’re seeing a majority of companies taking a pause for a week or two as a company offsite or annual kick off is happening. If you haven’t heard back, don’t worry! Knock out your follow ups and keep moving.
If you’re navigating a move and want to see how strong operators are approaching it, that’s the work we do inside the program.
February 1:1s are opening soon (taking on two more folks) - Join us 🤝
