Can 3 questions change your career?
I believe so. We often forget what made us magical before we even step up to the plate.
Every week I see the same thing when I’m inside someone’s resume: the story feels slow. Accomplishments are buried, impact is hidden, and the hiring team is left skimming instead of saying ‘we need this person now.’
Here’s how I’d flip the script 👇🏼
Why Should They Pick You? Show Them.
The speed of the accomplishments and why they matter for the role is lacking. The hiring team shouldn’t have to dodge filler to get to the good stuff.
Sure, the keywords are there (shoutout to the ATS scanner you ran it through)… but the case for why you’re the #1 candidate? That’s lost.
Why you’ll solve the problem.
Why you’ll show them the light.
Why you’ll make their lives easier
Let me show you how to make your wins impossible to miss:

Before I asked them questions

After I asked them questions
This isn’t rocket science; it’s dedicated work pulling out the stories you enjoy telling and making sure they matter most to the hiring team.
Questions to pull the right story from your resume
Looking across your career, what’s the thread or theme that connects all these roles? Why do people keep turning to you?
If you had to pick three career moments you’d want on the “front page” of your resume, the ones that prove your value immediately, which would they be and why?
Which one or two people you developed are you most proud of, and what changed for them under your leadership?
Great questions create momentum. Ask them!

Go nuts. Whatever you’re pursuing right now, lose yourself in the pursuit a little bit. Whether it’s a new project, a new title at work, or something in your personal life.
There’s beauty in eliminating distractions.
Remember: it’s only for a period of time.
Before you leave…
Applications get ignored. Conversations get remembered. Learn how to turn LinkedIn into the place where advocates, not algorithms, open doors to your next role.
