I’m more mad than my client Evan is. It’s funny that we’ve gotten to a world where hiring teams can get away with not picking up the phone and letting senior leaders know what made or broke the deal.
Because you answered questions, showed up with respect, and gave solutions that their team can go in and action. So, no phone call, what a joke in my opinion!
However, there’s a moment that will define a job seekers search from here because you go right ahead, blame everyone else, and rail against this market for the rest of time.
Or… you can get back on your horse after 24 hours.
I say 24 hours because you should take a day. A loss is a loss and it sucks. I don’t want you to combat it with 24 applications. It’s time to go back to the board strategically.
If there’s not a real reason, here’s a few questions I had Evan ask:
Where did things start to slip in your opinion?
Who do you wish you would have won over?
Did your solution hit home with the the team?
What ONE thing do you want to try out next time?
Give yourself some credit!! You got to 5 rounds. Your resume was attractive and people liked you along the way.
Just because it didn’t click with 1-2 people during those final rounds can be luck of the draw and time for you to reflect + ask these questions above.
24 hours. That's all I'm asking. Take the loss, then come back swinging. The market didn't reject you, one room did.
