Every week I get a front-row seat to how job searches actually unfold. Here are a few things I saw this week that might help you create momentum in your own 👇🏼
What I saw a professional do that impressed me…
They called out their market. They had heard their peers that an old titan of the industry was hiring as they move through an acquisition, and they said, “Dominic, we need to work like h*ll to create an interview this week.”
So, what did we do?
We focused on people. Who was sitting around the role that we could contact?
Sure enough, 5-10 people posting around the specific role they were going after. 5-10 DMs later… they have a phone screen today.
Don’t underestimate your ability to generate momentum within the week. Especially in the arena where you’ve spent your career. I’d also add, the repetition doesn’t stop at 1 or 2… it’s multiple until you find some sort of traction.
Quick note:
It won’t get easier.
Even if you’re job searching now, say you land the elite leadership role you wanted… stress will come with that as well. Hopefully this helps you reframe the current situation.
Most of the time you’d pray for the problems you had earlier in life.
