This is destroying your conversations

Ever wonder why networking works?
It’s not about who you know — it’s about who believes you belong.

Let’s rock 👇

You can do the job. Period. Full Stop.

We roll our eyes at “networking” as the best piece of job searching advice that LinkedIn can offer us.

But we don’t ask the question, what piece works?

Do we study the people who landed the role? Was it all luck?

What buttons did they push? What conversation tipped the scale?

Here’s one answer: “It clicked: you were the one.”

You stopped questioning if you were the right fit — and started owning that you were.

We have all these conversations with great folks who are in the role we want. But, we still question if we’re getting rejected because of the experience or a resume blunder?

Stop. Believe you’re the one.

You’ve talked to these folks, you know the work isn’t that deep.

Walk into your next conversation truly believing you own this body of work.

Your tone changes. Questions get better.

The person on the other line is now attracted to you as a professional and is willing to work to open doors for you to win.

So when you hear “just network”, don’t roll your eyes.

Ask who and why.

Then realize, you’re the one.

#PrescribedByDx - I did the thing

For the year, I set out to accomplish 5-10 loftier goals. One of them happened to be running 48 miles in 48 hours, and that occurred last weekend.

What did I learn?

Texas is hot as h*ll. It’s all a mind game. Sometimes you have to do it all yourself, regardless of what people think. Don’t let other people’s limitations prevent you from going for it all.

Ps) I still hold onto the idea that this made me a better human. I’ll report back in 10-20 years 😉

Questions to figure out if the role is all the “smoke”…

  • When was the last time you felt stretched in terms of technical knowledge?

    • Will they admit it? Who knows, but give it a rip!

  • How often are you reporting out to the customer or internal stakeholders?

  • What was the last piece of feedback you received? How did you address this?

Before you leave…

Need support believing you’re the one?

This is a pillar in my coaching work:
Helping you build a search around real conversations, not endless applications.

You don’t need a trick.
You need a clearer message and better connections.

If you're ready to approach your search with more intention and less noise, you're in the right place.
