Overlooking roles? It’s costing you more than you think 👀

I've never found a reason to believe you're beneath work. It closes more doors than it opens. Friendly reminder here with a few questions to ask in the mirror

If you’ve already jumped into my 5-day email series, thank you! Those emails are filled with ideas that have worked for job seekers, which is what I wholeheartedly believe in.

We’re coming up on year-end fast, and to that…

Let’s dive into it 👇🏼

  1. Overlooking opportunities

  2. Questions for the mirror

  3. #PrescribedByDx - Raw Thoughts

Overlooking roles because you feel “overqualified”? That mindset is costing you more than just time.

I blame most of my success early on in my career on the idea that I’m not “too good” for any role. What has it given me?

  • More money.

  • Time to live abroad.

  • Travel opportunities few ever get.

  • More time with my family and loved ones.

Isn’t that why most of us work? So, when did we become too good to consider a new option for our career?

This one fires me up a bit and, if anything, should serve as a reminder to take the conversation now when someone is offering. You never know when it’ll be offered again or how it could change the trajectory of your career.

Questions for the mirror…

  • When was the last time I saw my best self?

  • Who did I say “no” to recently?

  • What haven’t I given myself credit for?

  • Who do I need to thank tomorrow?

I spent the weekend back celebrating my brother, who graduated from college. My mom dropped a quote I had heard before:

You can always tell how a man will treat his wife by the way he treats his mother.

Why did this hit home? I don’t think we take into account how we treat the people who sacrificed a ton for us. We’ll go to lengths to support a friend or please a new coworker, but when it comes to our own family… we’re ghosts at times.

Friendly reminder to treat those people right. It’ll never go out of style.

TL;DR

  • You’re most likely being stubborn.

  • Write a question on your mirror in Expo.

  • Honor the people who’ve sacrificed for you.

Before you leave…

People are still landing roles. I’m working with 2 people right now who’ve had 5+ interviews in December. Don’t take your foot off the gas here!

If you’ve enjoyed reading this, let me know via direct response. I’d love to know what hits home and where I should spend more time.

Have a solid week 🤝

Dominic

P.S. When you’re ready to tap back into your network, check out this new 5-day email series I launched to land $100K roles where ideas are heard, work is valued, and people advocate for you behind closed doors.

I teach the exact framework I use to help job seekers attract hiring teams and show up to a career that they enjoy.
