Welcome to #PrescribedByDx

I told you I was trying something new in my newsletter for job seekers today, take a read below (no more than 4 minutes) and let me know what you think via mobile or direct response here!

Below you’ll find…

  1. An area you are already doing well

  2. One piece of a job search strategy to tweak

  3. How you could have fun this week in the job search

An area you are already doing well…

Time spent in your job search.

You are logging an appropriate amount of time for job searching. A couple of hours on Linkedin, an hour on job boards, and then any time spent networking.

The secret power here is auditing that time. What is working? Did it bring you results? Where have you had “some” fun?

Is there an opportunity to run towards those areas more often? That’s the secret question to ask.

One piece of a job search strategy to tweak…

Continuously creating options and momentum.

Consider your highest ROI in the job search, it’s time to figure out how you can create options and build momentum.

Creating more options. Job offers fall through the cracks all the time, when you land an interview don’t stop searching. This is a secret killer in strategies. People wait for a response from a recruiter and stop the efforts that were creating more options for you.

More options. More money. More freedom to find what role you enjoy.

Building momentum - it’s everything in most areas of our lives. This momentum keeps your search going even went you aren’t sitting by your computer. Momentum can be:

  • People networking on behalf of you

  • Recruiters finding you open roles

  • Conversations open new networks and roles while you’re busy creating more options.

Value where you see an energy shift, this momentum is priceless in the search.

An area where you could have fun this week…

Pick a role that seems crazy but is somewhat realistic and answer the following:

  • Why did this role seem “crazy” to me?

  • What would it be like showing up to that role?

  • Who do I know right now who knows more about this role?

“Dreaming” in our professional careers is important to me. All the “should” statements from other noises in your life go out the door. You get a chance to dream of where you’re headed.

Question for you in your career…

“Who’s help have I been ignoring in the search and how could I approach it differently?

TL;DR

  • You spend enough time in your search - keep it up.

  • Momentum in the job search is underrated.

  • More options = more money and freedom.

  • It’s okay to dream for just you.

3. What I'm up to that month personally and professionally

Personally - Spending time with family and getting ready for 5 weeks of international travel in Q1. I’ve been getting to spend time in India, Spain, Indonesia, and Thailand. Super excited and nervous about it all!

Professionally - I posted my goals on Linkedin this year. Planning meticulously around them in the past hasn’t done much for me and I’ve always ended up having a solid year with a ton of growth. This year I’m excited to start posting in a couple of different time zones and revisit how many coaching clients I can continue working with as my role at Deloitte changes a bit!

I appreciate you taking the time to read this far! Have a day and respond here if you have any questions!
