Imagine if you admitted this for your job search

Most advice says: “Find balance.”
But when you’re job searching, balance feels like floating.
You don’t need to float—you need to land.

Let’s rock 👇

Screw balance. Try this instead.

The job search is rarely a straight line.

One day, your inbox is silent. The next, you're fielding intro calls and seeing a few likes trickle in on LinkedIn.

So how do you stay grounded in the highs and lows?

The typical answer: find balance.

But that’s never really worked, has it?

Balance asks you to do everything at 70%. But this moment in your life—finding a new role—isn’t built for balance.

It’s built for focus.

I used to think balance was the goal too. I don’t anymore.

Here’s what actually works:

→ Make your job search your ONE thing
→ Show up with energy, clarity, and direction
→ Let it shape your conversations, your routine, even your thoughts

This doesn’t mean being desperate or overwhelmed.
It means being dialed in and specific.

Let others in. Talk about the kind of role you’re aiming for. Not just “something in marketing” but “a B2B content lead role focused on growth-stage companies.”

When you show up like that, you stop sounding like someone who needs a job.
You sound like someone ready for the one they’re meant for.

Not every interaction needs to be a plea for help.

You’re on a path.
You’re the one for the role.

So, yeah. Screw balance.
Go all in—for now.

Ps) And by the way, when was the last time you admitted a belief was wrong?

One question to job search trajectory

Out of the last 14 days, how many days have I shown up a connected with someone in the role I want to be in?

Before you leave…

Need support building your post to attract the right folks?

This is the work I’m doing right now with others.
